Vendor Registration

The holidays are over and now that the decorations are put away and the confetti has been swept up, folks are turning their thoughts to the fiber arts festival season. Vendor registrations have been rollin in and only a small number of spaces are still available for South Spokane Fiber Fest. Vendor spaces start at $20.00 for a 10'x10' space and are on a first come first served basis. I do my best to accomodate everyone but space is limited and going fast. If you would like vendor information, please feel free to email me at jtiegs@q.com

Some Thoughts on Community

I've had the pleasure of attending local spinning events in the Spokane area for the last couple of years.  Every time I leave one of these events, I feel injected with a dose of creativity and a sense of community.  Sharing that excitement is one of the reasons why I host the South Spokane Fiber Fest.

For those of us living in the Inland Northwest, we are privileged to partake in both a strong and vibrant local fiber arts community and in a really great fiber community the covers the Pacific Northwest.  So the question then becomes: Are there folks who are not part of our community?  How do we create ways for folks to engage in our community?  We owe it to our community to work towards answers to these questions.

I think there is always room for more in our fiber arts community, and I think the first step is to let people know what events are going on around them so they can be a part of the community at large in what ever capacity is comfortable to them.

That is why I'm adding a Local Events tab to this blog.  For our community to continue to grow and offer space for more members we need to have a location where folks can go to get information on local events.  If you have an event that appeals to the fiber arts community please email me at jtiegs@q.com and I'll get it added to the Local Events tab.  If you are just curious and want to know the who, what, when and where please bookmark this page and I'll do my best to keep everyone informed.

Our community is diverse, the events on the Local Events tab are not limited to just spinners or just guild activities.  Many events offer something for everyone.  Whether you knit, crochet, needle felt, weave or partake in the many different fiber arts crafts, these events are worth checking out.

South Spokane Fiber Fest 2012 in Review

Whew!  I can't believe the South Spokane Fiber Fest has come and gone for 2012 and it's time to start looking foward to 2013.  Before I do that, I want to give thanks to all of the participants and to the following folks:

Town of Fairfield (seriously, they are amazing to work with if you have an event in Fairfield)
Palouse Food Bank (great job sponsoring breakfast and lunch)
Paradise Fibers (thank you for supporting the prize drawings)
Joan Hewson with Hewson Specialities
Vi Tiegs

And the vendors *swooon...the vendors*!  The 2012 SSFF vendors were the bees knees and I got a ton of compliments on them.  In no particular order:

Calico Farms
Sindi Loughlin
Rochelle Fairfield
Cottage Dyeworks
Shooting Yarn
Jerry Lee Farm
Irish Rose Rabbitry
Scotch Thistle & Zepplin Fibers
Handi-Hummingbird
Sue's Hoops -n- Needles
The Sassy Sheep
The Freckled Dog Fiber Company
Abundant Yarns

Thank you for making the Community Center a feast for the eyes and a famine for the pocketbook!
